We would like to inform the user of the Website about the use of cookies.

Definition

A cookie is a small text file placed on the hard disk of the computer of the user of a website.
There are, simply put, two types of cookies: functional cookies and tracking cookies.
Functional cookies remember for example the choice of language or the completed fields of a form. This way the user does not need to input this again next time he visits the website.
Tracking cookies collect information about browsing habits of the user. Within this group another distinction should be made between direct or 1st party tracking cookies and indirect or 3rd party tracking cookies. Direct tracking cookies are for example used for statistical purposes or to determine whether the user can easily find his way around the website. Indirect tracking cookies on the other hand are usually used by advertisers to show ads tailored to the
specific browsing profile of the user.

Used cookies

The Website only uses only functional cookies and direct tracking cookies. These cookies are intended to optimize the use of the Website, to remember technical choices made by the user, to keep statistics, to improve the provided services and to identify any errors in the Website.

Refuse

As a cookie file is placed by the website on which the user is surfing and accepted by the browser with which the user is surfing to the website, the user can accept or reject cookies by adjusting the browser settings. The help function of your browser explains how you can change the browser settings.
The user can choose to accept all cookies, to reject indirect tracking cookies or to reject all cookies. The user can set the browser settings so that he/she will receive a notification each time a cookie is activated.
The user should keep in mind that by rejecting technical cookies, some features of the Website will not work anymore.

Implied consent

By continuing to use the Website without blocking cookies in the browser settings, the user agrees that the above mentioned cookies will be placed.

Qualitative Analysis

Success and weak factors

ALFRED is a project still in execution with duration of 36 months. It has a very important technological basement including mobile technology. The most relevant weak is related to the quickly evolution of the technologies and the incompatibility between mobile platforms. In other hand, these issues represent only a part of the ALFRED solution. ALFRED framework has being developed using open technologies guarantying the evolution and extensibility of it, along the time. Success factors: - Android is the most extended smartphone platform in the market and is used by a big number of manufacturers - ALFRED platform could be evolved and extended is not depending of the smartphone platforms - ALFRED supports multilingual interface through the voice - ALFRED includes a specialized marketplace for older people apps in order to easy the search and identification of the most recommended apps for their needs Weak factors: - Obsolescence of smartphone and devices, technology is constantly and quickly changing. - Only available for Android devices

Main innovative aspects

While every aspect of the ALFRED System may be solved on its own or is at least envisioned already the ALFRED System is the first holistic approach to bring all these technologies and concepts together. This is not less, than the combination of a range of major important disciplines in the ICT: Internet of Things and Wearables, Big Data, Social Networking, Serious Games and Human Computer Interaction. This cross-disciplinary approach shows the real impact, as the sum is more than the mere parts.
